Interoperability with Other Application
Krakatoa does not support other applications, such as Maya, Houdini, XSI directly yet, but a certain level of interoperability can be achieved.
- Krakatoa can read and write Comma-Separated Value (CSV) files which are a simple ASCII format. Using the scripting languages in these other applications to load or save CSV files should be relatively straightforward.
- Next Limit RealFlow 4 Particle BIN Files may be an option. Next Limit provides particle loaders for a number of 3D applications, and these can be used to load Krakatoa particles saved in the BIN format.
- We have provided the full PRT file format specification which third party developers can use to provide I/O for this format.
NOTE: Krakatoa does not do any automatic conversion of the coordinate system, so you will have to use the transform and/or options in particle loaders to switch between left handed/right handed and Y-up/Z-up conventions.
We intend to release a stand-alone version of the Krakatoa renderer, as well as integrate Krakatoa into other 3D packages. These plans have not been finalized, however, and may be subject to change.
